Claire wrote: "I wanted to create a class for young children where their desire to “be” a princess or a pirate or a dolphin would be as fully realized as possible complete with costumes, music and lighting. I wanted to give the children a few tools for story telling, like understanding what a character is and being able to name and express their feelings. Most importantly I wanted to take them on journeys of the imagination." Claire is an actress and the producing artistic director of Brookyn’s
Brave New World Theater Company – they just performed "Crossing

Brooklyn Superhero Supply Co. is a
superheroic kind of place. It supports kids and teachers in so many
ways AND sells superhero supplies! Sound like an odd combination? Well,
yes, but if you know writer David Egger’s work (who founded it), it all makes a little bit of sense. The store sells capes, grappling hooks,
antimatter, and more and all the proceeds from the store go directly to
826NYC, a nonprofit organization dedicated to supporting students
ages 6-18 with their creative and expository writing skills, and to
helping teachers inspire their students to write. 826NYC provides drop-in
tutoring, field trips, after-school workshops, in-schools tutoring,
help for English language learners, and assistance with student
publications. All of the programs are free.

I met Cordelia 2 summers ago and had seen some of the weekly performances a few months before. Elias Lopez brought me from the Tennis House where we worked together. I came to support Maya a couple of times that summer. The performances were super and I raelly think I could serve you well as a Drama Specialist. I am also a good painter/ sculptor and have college art history classes in my teaching toolkit. Thanks for the great work!!! Hope to hear from you soon.
