I just came in the from the lingerie jungle. I say that because I hate shopping for lingerie- it is about as much fun as shopping for bathing suits. BUT, I had the most pleasant, easy experience last week when Mimi (my mom) and I ventured into Gumbo for bra fittings. My mother was very game, I less so. Mimi went first and emerged from the fitting/bathroom a changed and uplifted woman! Encouraged, I went. When I disrobed, Iris (expert bra fitter) gasped as I was wearing (gasp!) no bra with my tank top. Oh, I had no idea this was going to cost me in my future years! Apparently, I have been wearing the wrong size bra too for 17 years. I bought 2 new bras and truly feel like I had minor surgery. I came home and my husband said VaVaVoom. The bra fitter, Iris couldn’t have been sweeter.  And talk about experience! She fitted bras at Bloomingdales for 10 years and designed the award winning wedding bra ensemble (which I happen to own) for Le Mystere. She has been designing bras for 9 years. She is fitting women for both nursing and regular bras at Gumbo. She also has sexy underwear. She is carrying all major European brands and they start at $45.  Beginning Friday September 14 Iris will be at Gumbo every Tuesday – Saturday, 1-7 and Sunday, 1-6. She fits both nursing and regular bras. She will also do custom alterations to make the bra fit exactly right, or fix a stretched out bra. (only for those you bought from her).
