I stopped in Corduroy Kid (Vanderbilt Ave in Prospect Heights) today for a quick stop. I was picking up a raffle gift that owner Monica was generously donating to a Kids Disco Don’t Destroy fundraiser that is happening later this month (will post on this later). Well, a quick stop turned into an hour-long tour of what is new and hip for kids. Monica is also a stylist and she has an eye for finding cool items, combining them and knowing what is a good value. I was thrilled to see that she was carrying 2 of my favorite things from the trade show last month.
One of them is the Luna Lullaby muslin blankets. They measure almost 4 feet each so they are ideal for swaddling and mopping up. When I saw these, I wished I had had these when we were swaddling Birch. I never got the hang of swaddling with those thick, odd-shaped blankets we got- I was even lost using the better ones from the hospital.
The other favorite item from the trade show that Corduroy Kid has is the Myself belt. I liked it so much I bought 2 of them for gifts. They are fantastic. You know how your kids’ pants are always falling down? These should alleviate that. These belts are great for a child to undo by themselves. The belt has a one-handed closure makes it all so easy. The company was founded by 2 sisters and moms from St. Louis. I met one of the sisters and she was so excited about their invention and thrilled they were winning awards. The other new thing that Monica is carrying is the Ergo.
I know people are always looking for them and you can get them at The Kid. Okay, and lastly, Halloween!
Monica showed me 2 of her fun things for Halloween.
I have to say the Little Capers are perfect for any child year-round that is into superheroes. They are fantastic! These nicely priced ($32) long or short-sleeved shirts have detachable shimmery capes. Sure wish they had some adult sized ones.
The other item is this fun skull onesie or t-shirt you can pair with crazy leg warmers or pants for a trick or treater.
