Some major recalls were announced yesterday. Two I wanted to point out concern Aqua Dots and Schylling Associates collections. The Aqua Dots are particularly awful and caused 2 children to become unconscious. (Both children are now recovered, thankfully.) The
coating on the beads that causes the beads to stick to each other when
water is added contains a chemical that can turn toxic when many are
ingested. Children who swallow the beads can become comatose, develop
respiratory depression, or have seizures. The Schylling Assocations collections (including the Duck Family pictured here) were recalled due to a violation of the lead paint standard. For a full list visit www.cpsc.org.
