I got some great emails on the 2007 baby names post (below). One of my favorites was from Victoria- "Well, we can’t be accused of being trendy." Oh, how right she was! Where are all the Milos, Diegos, Kaishas, Linleys, Mayas that we meet everyday in Brooklyn? I guess all the Michaels, Daniels and Matthews reside in Manhattan.
Alison wrote, "Some of the top ten names are beautiful or meaningful, but who wants to go to school with a half dozen other kids of the same name? One year we had Dave, Davie, David and Dovid in my class! They were all officially named David, of course."
If you were born in the 70′s (like me)- remember all the Jennifers, Stephanies, and oh, yes, Karens. I even changed my name from Karen to Kiki while at camp. Oh, a terribly misdriven moment. My father still won’t let me live that down.

I remember my friend Ophelia from 4th grade crying during PE- when I asked her what was wrong, she very seriously yelled “I just wish that my name was Jennifer or Jessica! I am so mad at my mom and dad!” I’m sure she loves her name now, though
