Saturday, December 15th is a grown up holiday event (whew, finally!). The String Orchestra of Brooklyn will perform at 8 pm at St. Ann and The Holy Trinity Church at 157 Montague Street in Brooklyn Heights. Sit and enjoy Back, Torelli, Vaughan Williams and Mozart. Suggested donation is $10 for adults and $5 for students and seniors.

Homeopath Rebekah Azzarelli is presenting a workshop at Lucky Lotus in Fort Greene on Saturday, December 15. The topic is "Healing with Homeopathy" and she will discuss how to prescribe homeopathic remedies at home for common ailments such as fever, colds, flus, earaches, teething, digestive complaints and injuries. A 2nd Annual children holiday event is hosted by preeminent (at least in my mind) publisher The Powerhouse Arena. Book readings, signings by 3 Brooklyn authors: Megan McCarthy, Tad Hills, Lauren Thompson and will feature a photo opportunity to have your photo taken with Santa. Come on Sunday, December 16 from 3-4:30 pm at Powerhouse, 37 Main Street at Water Street in DUMBO. May I suggest a quick trip afterwards for the yummy hot chocolate at Jacques Torres…merely a couple of blocks away….

Visit the Brooklyn Waldorf School in Fort Greene on Sunday, December 16 from 12-5 pm for their Winter Fair. (I went last year and really liked it.They had great kids’ activities, nice handmade crafts and wooden toys and really good raffle prizes. I definitely recommend this event). There will be a puppet show, face painting, bird feeder making, silent auction, candle dipping, decorating, rolling and candle ornament making. There will be a fortune teller and a pocket fairy (you have to see this to understand it but it was a big hit!). Located at 126 St. Felix Street btw. Hanson and Lafayette.

Sunday, December 16 is a different affair from the rest of the listings. SONYA (South of Navy Yard Artists) is hosting a Holiday Art Sampler and Fundraiser. For $25 you get a original 4×6 artwork of your choice and a Friends of SONYA membership. Refreshments donated by local merchants and The Clinton Hill Pie Company are donating treats. There will also be artwork by children. The show goes from 12-6 pm for that day and then actually ends on January 20, 2008.
