I was walking around a children’s trade fair and happened to spot a small booth that had these quirky designs that were personal, whimisical, fun and sweet. I just had to stop. It turned out the owner was a local Brooklyn (DUMBO) artist who has decided to take a big sidestep into designing bedding and childrens’ items. And it is a good thing she did. Dale Kaplan has this great style, unusual pairings of colors, fabrics and patterns that just work….so in a way I’m not sure why she would hand the designing reigns over to anyone else, but she has….you, in fact. She makes these cool  kits called "Cut Out Couture" that includes a tshirt and her designer transfers that you iron on.  She gave me the animal kit to try out. My friend Elizabeth (her child is the one seated next to Birch)  and I made them one night while watching a movie. We cut out the rhinos, turtles, cats, caterpillars and then had a blast designing our tshirts- we did 4 in all including onesies.  We loved how they came out, so we took some photos of the children in their super soft tshirts.
