Thank you to Sharon for her advice. She wrote in on the "comments" section of my post about tooth brushing techniques.  Her suggestion on how to get your child to brush her teeth was incredibly helpful. We have tried her "hide and seek" game for 4 nights now and it has been successful every night so far!

Here was her suggestion:

My daughter (3 yrs old) is really into Little Mermaid, so we work on
‘brushing out’ all the characters from her teeth. Flounder likes to
hide behind her molars, Ariel swims around her front teeth, Sebastian
hangs out on her tongue, etc. It even worked when we took her to the
dentist.

We applied her game to Birch’s fanaticism about his Thomas trains. He tells me "Thomas" is on the bottom right side of his mouth and I clean him, and then "Edward" needs a good brush on his upper right and so forth. "Thomas" is usually also hanging out on his front teeth and needs a good wash so he can be ready to run for his passengers tomorrow morning. By the way, Birch is 2 years old.

Sharon, thank you so so much.
