THE CARROLL PARK CONCERT SERIES continues with Randy Kaplan on Wednesday, July 23th at 4 pm. I like Randy’s songs- I have heard them quite a few time and think they are a little bit silly, folky and good. Randy Kaplan is a Brooklyn-based songwriter that has released six CDs, the most recent being the children’s record Five Cent Piece. The CD features classics like "Over the Rainbow" and "You Can’t Always Get What You Want", and original songs too. Kaplan has been praised and recommended by New York Magazine, TONY Kids, Cookie Magazine, Parenting Magazine, and others. Visit www.randykaplan.com There will be face painting by Gymstars and t-shirts designed by Ted
Meyer available for decorating, as well as food and drinks provided by
Moxie Spot, so please arrive with a bit of pocket money! All proceeds
benefit The Committee to Improve Carroll Park. The Carroll Park Concert Sereis asks for a nominal donation, if possible, to help cover costs.

This sounds like a must-do event to me. On Wednesday, July 9th until July 20th is Brooklyn’s
annual Festa del Giglio stretches over a week and a half and features a
parade with a 65-foot tall structure hoisted above the streets of
Williamsburg, carnival rides, live music, and Italian cuisine. North
8th and Havemeyer Streets. 718.384.0223 http://www.olmcfeast.com Ongoing Daily 7/9/08 – 7/20/08; check with location for exceptions. Free; bring cash for rides and food. 275 N 8th Street Brooklyn, NY 11211 (This listing is

corn bait, and assists children in baiting and casting their fishing
lines. The Brooklyn Cyclones‘
mascot, Sandy the Seagull, and the Shinbone Alley Stilt Band provide
entertainment. All participants can attend educational workshops led by
Prospect Park Audubon Center educators and the Urban Park Rangers.
