Okay, so a little bit of bias here….but what is a blog without bias?
Good friend Abbey Stace has started up her studio again (after child #1 and now child #2 due shortly), to offer charcoal portraits. I didn’t even know she was contemplating this until she handed me a brochure last week. We happened to be at one of our "Ladies Night Out" and so the brochure got passed around and "oohed and ahhed" over. So, I thought I would pass it on to you all…
Abbey studied at the Museum of Fine Arts in Boston- a very good institution. She can do the portraits from life or photos (and if you need a good photo to work from she can do the photo for you). You can also check out the list of portrait photographers I have on the blog, who would be good choices too. Prices start at $750 for an 11" x 14". You can contact Abbey at [email protected] or call 347-563-5777.
Personally, I love both of these: I love the white background of "Lilly" (see below)- it feels very contemporary and light and the drawing of "Roald" (must be British!), is intense and so present. "Roald" was done on tinted paper so you get a sense of him placed in an environment. But what I like about both of them is that you get a sense of the kids’ focus and personality. I think my bias is totally justified here, don’t you? I can’t wait until the day we will ask Abbey to do one of Birch.
