This website communityplaythings.com has great apartment-sized cribs. A few people on our listserve in Fort Greene have bought them and been very happy with them. You can buy it with/out the telescoping drop-side that will save your back. There are optional storage drawers for under the crib. Prices start at $320.00

Extra prize for anyone that can tell me why this woman is wearing a kerchief?? Is it a religion thing? Or just a very dated photo????

the scarf is so her hair wont fall into the baby as she lays him down
We had a Davinci mini crib that we were very happy with. Got it from Babies R Us and it was only $150.
Yes, It’s an Amish company that has been supplying children’s furniture for years (decades maybe). They have a great website and offer CAD drawings for which this architect is very grateful.

Community Playthings is owned and operated by an intentional, religious community called the Bruderhof. Like other anabaptist churches, they cover their hair.
she’s def not jewish…. the jewish women cover their hair completely.. so she must be amish.
My guess would be that the makers of the crib are Jewish. I have seen many women wearing kerchiefs like that. Many of them have large families and would need to squeeze a few beds in a room. Just a thought.
Either she’s trying to make sure Baby doesn’t grab her hair or they’re trying to appeal to the Amish.
Maybe she just washed her “fly away” hair and this keeps it in place until it dries?
