My favorite sound machine
Unfortunately for everyone in our household, I am a light sleeper. In college I had to put an enormous whirring fan on all night so I could sleep- and none of my roommates appreciated that. Since then it has only been downhill with white noise radios, whale call music, bigger and bigger fans, oy! After 15 years (yikes!) I have finally found the perfect, lightweight solution for sleeping soundly. The machine is made my SoundScreen and is a mere 2 lbs and the size of a dessert plate. It has 2 speed controls (basically windy and blustery) and you can change the sound by twisting the collar of the machine. I bought one for Birch’s room too (am I dooming him to need this for his lifetime??) and when we travel I pack it in his things. It has been a lifesaver for noisy hotel rooms, loud family dinners, and just plain loud family. I understand that I am probably the last person on earth to know about it as every time I pull it out, people say they have it too. But, just in case, some of the rest of you are late to be in the know too……
you can get it at amazon.com
Here is what the little lifesaver looks like:

Couldn’t agree more. We’ve used the same one for 4 years now to counteract noisy upstairs neighbors waking us in the morning, and there is one on our baby wishlist for our nursery. I did have it wear out after two years or so of nightly use and had to replace (the motor seems to wear down eventually) but that’s my only complaint.
Thank you for this!! We have been looking for something for an upcoming trip- without a fan or white noise no one in our house can sleep, I will definitely try this one.
