I never thought I would be so enthusiastic about a car seat- but, here I am, whooping it up about the new Britax Boulevard CS. I’ve passed from cheering about bell bottoms to safe bottoms.

Let me start from the top. We own a Britax. The Britax Marathon. Like the Boulevard CS, it is a convertible car seat (rear to forward facing) for children from 5 – 65 lbs.  Both also have the side impact wings which is crucial to us. We own a Mini Cooper- and, well, you can imagine that it would be nigh impossible to install a car seat in the middle of the back seat. Middle? There is none in a mini. So, the deep impact walls are important to us as we have to install the car seat on the right or left side.  This is supposed to insure better safety for side impact collisions.  Both car seats have adustable headrest and harness so as Birch and Willow grow we just turn a knob instead of having to reinstall the car seat.

But here is why the Britax Boulevard CS is better. Papa Tree installed it and we both swear that Birch has more leg room than before. (And, in a Mini Cooper- leg room is at a premium). Birch used to kick my seat all the time (not on purpose of course, because he is a well-behaved angel), but now he can’t. Heaven for me!  Birch used to complain that he didn’t have any room, and well, I did too as I was in the seat in front of him. But now we both have room and all is hunky-dorey.  Birch loves his "new car seat" too. He looks more comfortable in it.  I checked out the Britax website to see if the Boulevard CS and Marathon are different dimensions. They are the same.  Even so, Papa Tree and I believe, somehow, magically, the Boulevard CS is a better fit for the Mini Cooper. Here is the other reason the Boulevard CS is better. It has a new element called Click and Safe. Basically, you can hear a "click" when the harness is tight enough. This is new, new, new.  For any of you that saw my post about "when to turn a car seat to forward facing" may have seen the accompanying photo of Birch in his seat. (SEE PHOTO BELOW) I got quite a few comments from readers that I didn’t have the harness taut or properly situated. Thank God we weren’t traveling when I took that photo (hmmmm….). So, you know that the Click and Safe is a godsend for me. I don’t have to think about the harness being properly secured. 

So, that’s why I am crazy about a car seat. Yes, a car seat.
