I love Sweeter’s Pals. I have been turning to these recently whenever I am looking for a gift. These Sweeter Pals are individually handknit by Sue, who writes me a personalized “thank you” each time I have ordered one. You can have her personalize the Pal with a child’s name for an additional $6. I have ordered “Jake” and “Olivia” and personalized them. Sue also makes sweaters and fantastic blankets, but the “dolls” are my favorites.

Local artist, Chantal Bennett, will take an image of your child and put her in her own fantastical, illustrated world. Your child can be pictured riding on the back of a polar bear in the north pole, swimming with turtles (pictured here) or calling swans to frolic in the open air. She works in ink and watercolor. You can buy them from her at her Etsy shop. Each one is $99.

These personalized baby/mommy/daddy/partner presents are fabulous. It seems every chic mommy in Brooklyn is wearing one- and, yes, the not-so-chic too like me thanks to my mom…You can get them in sterling silver or gold with a name and birthdate on the back. The personalization takes about 2 weeks. (I think this would make a fabulous anniversary gift too). Get one at the Clay Pot on 162 7th Avenue in Park Slope

This woman Ann wrote me about her homegrown business that she started in upstate New York. It is called ChildArt Productions. She takes your child’s original art work and custom prints it in full color on a personalized line of stationary, cards, post cards, calendars, journals, sketch pads, address books, daily planners & magnets. I asked her for some samples so that I could see the quality. She sent me some postcards and notecards. The images aren’t as sharp as I would have thought, but I think that it is just so cool to have a calendar of your child’s art without having to go and digitize it. Plus, it’s a smart way to save all that artwork permanently. If you don’t have a little artist at home, she can use her own children’s art for your notecards or address books. I LOVE looking at all the children’s art on her site. There are some amazing young Matisses out there! The horse (pictured here) and animal menagerie (also pictured) are fantastic- I wish I had made them.

This Custom Made For Kids book is so special I just had to include it. I ordered one for Birch awhile back. When Papa Tree and I looked at it, we actually teared up. Yep, we’re new parents….but honestly, it is so adorable and sweet and cheerful, it’s such a treat. I am including it here too because they are having a holiday special- and they rarely have specials on them- so this would be your time! Enter holiday15 as your coupon code to get 15% off the usual price. The offer expires on December 1st.

HAPPY SHOPPING!

  1. Oh my gosh, I love the Olivia doll! It’s adorable and seems like the kind of thing my daughter would love for a long time. Thanks for this!
