Oh, I knew that headline caught your attention! Massage and facial, you say? Mmmmm, that sounds good.
What do you win?
It is the February doldrums and it is time to treat yourself to a little necessary pampering. Greenhouse Holistic is just the one to do it for you. Located in Williamsburg, this wellness center will give you your choice of either massage (hot stone sounds particularly good to me right now, but you can also get a para and prenatal massage, aromatherapy, raindrop massage- look this one up! and the regular old delish Swedish massage) or facial (choose from an oxygenating one, detox facial and more….). You can win either one with your submission.
Even if you don’t win, the Greenhouse Holistic Spa has some of the most reasonable massage prices around (90 min for $100 or 60 min for $80). A facial is $95 for 80 minutes.
I wanted to alert you that Greenhouse has also started a new prenatal yoga program this week. They will offer a Mommy and Me Class in March. To check out all their offerings in yoga, pilates, t’ai chi chuan, body treatments, acupuncture, belly dancing and feng shui, you can check out their website.
How to Submit:
Put a comment in below this post. Tell us your favorite store/website to get baby/kids’ goods and why. I will pick the winner via a random hat drawing.
All entries must be in by Monday, February 9th at 9 pm. The winner will be announced on Tuesday, February 10th. If you can’t be bothered to remember to check back, sign up for our daily newsletter to alert you: [email protected].

We love diapers dot com for all things bath, tooth and diaper related. They are fabulous! Also love Still Hip, we’ve found great shoes, toys and books there.
.
We just got a great toddler snow suit at old navy .com for 10 bucks- along with a lot of other really cheap cute winter gear- I think after January their sales are unbeatable- a pro to extra long nyc winters
I love the Jillian’s Drawers website for all the cloth diapering stuff you need plus tons of other cool stuff for babies. I love underthenile.com too for organic baby clothes and toys.
I love Still Hip. It’s so satisfying to comb through their racks and find just what you were looking for without having to pay retail for it. I also love taking the clothes that no longer fit my daughter and getting store credit. It feels like there’s this big bunch of kids stuff floating around, and you can just reach out and grab what you need to get rid of what you no longer need that someone else will get a lot of use out of. Haven’t checked out their classes yet, but it’s a great neighborhood resource.
I always do most of my present shopping for kids at Kidding Around on 15th & 6th Ave in Manhattan. They have a program you can sign up for that puts every $ you spend toward a gift certificate once you’ve spent over a certain amount. They have the best selection of Playmobil, Lego & European toys; great arts & crafts; some clothes and cover all ages. They wrap presents for free as well!
For shoes I like Peekaboo kids on Court St & Union(ish) & Ibiza kids in Manhattan. Giggle in Soho is a beautiful store – great for parents to be and newborns esepcially. And Hannah Anderson sales are the BEST. Their clothes last forever….
my favorite store for kids shoes and clothes has to be Daffy’s. For quality clothing & great prices. great for infant gifts too! Park slope co-op for organic diapers and baby soaps.
Because my peanut is still small, and growing so fast, I go for quick deals. Old Navy has been good to me. They have nice quality things and they can go as low as $1 for a long sleeve onesie.
Can’t beat Diapers.com for essentials that are always delivered fast and efficiently. No lugging around diapers, wiper, and bath supplies around the neighborhood. Also love Pizzaz Kids on Court street, both the toy store and the baby supplies store. They always have a great selection and friendly service.
Giggle all the way, they have everything.
My favorite place to get stuff is the park slope parents listserve. Stuff is cheap and I feel good re-using instead of adding to landfill!
In Brooklyn we enjoy Lulus for toys, puzzles, and haircuts. Lulus has a small play area with trains for kids. Another favorite in NYC is the Natural History Museum for books, science projects and small toys. In Dumbo we found a great store called Half Pint which has some cool clothes and a good collection of wooden and other “green” toys. Half pint has a nice train play area for kids as well. For clothes with vibrant colors, we wait for sales and shop online at Hanna Andersson for O-Tek organic cotton items.
I love so many stores both in Brooklyn and online. In Brooklyn, I love Still Hip, The Stork Store, Heights Kids, and the Pratt Art Store (my son LOVES to get art supplies there). Online, I love atoygarden.com. It is run by a woman named Sonja and she has always been wonderful to work with and she focuses on locally made, US based companies and ethically sourced products.
I know it’s not local, but I love the Gymboree web site. They have cute, well-made cotton clothes with animal themes that I appreciate–I don’t always want my toddler to dress like a grown-up!
I also use 1-800-diapers religiously–so much easier than going out to pick up diapers from the store, although they aren’t the cheapest source out there.
For my own kids, I’d have to say Old Navy, Still Hip and 1-800 Diapers are my faves. When able to splurge on other people’s kids, Corduroy Kids, in Prospect Heights and Park Slope, offers such beautiful and unique gifts and clothing, and the owner is lovely.
Hi,
My favorite children’s store is Lulu’s. There is alsways an interesting variety of toys as well as an area for the kids to play while they’re done shopping.
Old Navy… my baby is growing like crazy and I can’t keep up with her wardrobe. Need inexpensive clothes so I won’t mind if she gets mashed sweet potatoes all over them!
another fan of Still Hip! Love going there to trade in clothes for another size/season! And we appreciate all that the owners do for the neighborhood!
I like Flying Sqirell. They have a good collection of gently used clothes. I love their toy selections, too! It’s a place that you can take your tots and not feel overwhelmed.
It’s definitely Still Hip for us too … can’t beat the deals on great stuff, and I love that I can have my kids play in there while I’m shopping without getting lost or into stuff. Love it!
My favorite stores to find beautiful clothes at a discount are the Calypso outlet in Soho. I also like Daffy’s where you can find designer brands and great shoes like naturino hugely discounted ( it can be hit or miss). H&M is also great. Online I like babystyle.com-nothing beats their basics and layette clothes.
there are so many sites I like going to–gap.com and oldnavy.com has a great selection and the sales are dynamite (especially in this economy!!). Diapers.com is good for the staples as is drugstore.com (plus, drugstore is expanding it’s green section everyday). But my fave site has to be giggle.com. They’ve really great things–plus they’re the only site I have found that sells safe-for-baby detergent for the dishwasher!!! Giggle isn’t cheap so I don’t buy tons from there but it’s a great site–check it out at http://www.giggle.com (they’ve a store on Wooster St in Manhattan).
i love diapers.com. their prices are very competitive, which helps being the mother of twins, and i like that they have free delivery. i also like area kids. would like to make it over to still hip one day!
i am a HUGE fan of KIDS PLANET (now open in the Upper west side). The workers there are sooo friendly. I get everything for my 9 mos old there from onsies, toys to his portable feeding chair. All for reasonable prices too! Theyre awesome!
I’m also a fan of diapers.com, you can get so much more than diapers there…we get BabyGanics organic cleaning supplies, Born Free cup accessories, etc.
I’ve also gotten great things at happyhealthybaby.com, like EarthMama AngelBaby brand lotions and creams.
Rite Aid has great art supplies! And Pizzazz Kids/Toys and Heights Kids are both well stocked local stores for anything kid related.
For discount shopping, don’t forget Cookies on Livingston! Good prices, and a big selection of everything from clothes to furniture to toys to sippy cups to potty seats, all in one place.
We love the toy stores at the American Museum of Natural History, and also at the New York Hall of Science. My favorite place for kids books lately is the gardens store at the Brooklyn Botanical Gardens, great for all ages.
My favorite shop for kids things is a toss up between Acorn on Atlantic Ave- for all of their fantastic mobiles with fairies and butterflies- or Corduroy Kids on Vanderbilt Ave- they are so close and have wonderful items and a great staff. But if I had to choose one it would be Corduroy Kids since they are not as expensive as Acorn, and they have a fun selection of boys clothes (many eco-friendly lines) and the dresses for girls are amazing! Such funky fabrics and quirky cuts- I love looking at them even though I have 2 boys! They have toys, shoes, stroller items, books, furniture, blankets and more. Check them out!
It would have to be Old Navy for their sales. I can’t bring myself to spend more than $5 or $10 on an item of clothing that will last 2 or 3 months so it’s great for supplementing my son’s wardrobe of mostly hand-me-downs!
My favorite store is flying squirell in williamsburg. It has great gently used brand name clothes for infants to size 12.! The brandname clothes are greatalso. have gotten many gap jeans, clothes at great prices. They also have new designer original clothes and gifts and welcome children to play with the used toys as well. I love going there and finding some great deals and having fun at the same time.
I shop on amazon.com for some things because they have free shipping for shopping carts over $25. I also shop on Toysrus.com on Black Friday to avoid the in-store mayhem and receive major discounts on toys for all the kids on my Christmas list.
Our friends just started a website http://imaginechildhood.com/
and beyond them being friends, I think it is such a sweet website. It has a store with natural products (from books to felted fairies), and a blog with storytelling and natural kids craft ideas. It is gorgeous to look at. It’s our new fav!
hi,
I use http://www.diapers.com a lot. The prices are very competitive, and it seems they have new items every time I check out the website. Also, they offer free shipping on orders over 49.00 Locally, boing boing has been a great resource, and Heights kids helped us install our carseat even though we didnt buy it there.
~Rachel
I’m a fan of the Stork Store in Greenpoint, Brooklyn. The owner Stephanie is super sweet and it’s a great place to pick up a present for a friend’s new baby, to get breastfeeding support and products or to pick up a new sippy cup, baby leg warmers, or a soft cuddly for my girl.
another fan of Still Hip! We live really close and love going there to trade in clothes for another size/season! And we love going there for playgroup, art class, music class and the owners are really nice!
My favorite kids store as of lately is Kisan on Greene Street in Soho. They are a lifestyle store and have awesome clothes for the whole family! I was just in there recently and bought awesome designer baby stuff on big markdowns! Now my baby boy is walking around in some awesome new digs!
My Favorite? That’s hard to choose. But, Heights Kids on Pineapple Walk in the North Heights has the best service around. I always feel like they are quite responsive and honest. They have told me when the more expensive item is not the best. I never feel pushed to buy anything , its fine to just look, come back later etc. I even found a hard to find piece for a Stokke highchair that I found on the street. It was in perfect condition except for the $10 seatbelt which they had and took the time to even show me how to properly install. I’ve gotten tons of a stuff there both pricey and not and I like how they have two sections, one for younger babies and the other full of great toys for older kids.
It has to be Still Hip. I am very lucky in that I live only a few blocks from this gem, but it is well worth travelling to if you live further afield! They have a wonderful selection of used kids clothes (in great condition and great prices) as well as all the other things you might need for your baby/child. I have got a carrier, bouncy chair, diapers, books, toys and even ‘rented’ a car seat. Still Hip also has a space that they open up for baby groups which means that it is also a great place for socialising – especially during these cold winter months. Check out their website for classes and events they regularly hold as well. Phew, such a lot for a little store!
Boing Boing is my favorite local shop because they have packed an amazing amount of really helpful items into a small space. Karen has done a great job picking merchandise. I went there every other day when my baby was first born for pumping supplies, bras, clothes, books, etc.
My favorite corporate store is Buy Buy Baby (both online and their Manhattan location). The have everything one could possible need for babyhood. Their customer service is fantastic. The people are super knowledgeable and friendly (helpful to parenthood neophytes like my husband and I). And they honor coupons from Bed Bath and Beyond as well as their competitors.
I’m really into the magic cabin website these days. They have lots of great puzzles, which my daughter loves, and I really love the fairy stuff. http://www.magiccabin.com

I am a bargain hunter at heart and I am often guilty of picking things up that I really want and putting them back, for me that is. I often shop Old Navy.com – they have some great sales sometimes – really cute tshirts and sweaters for sometimes under $5 and with a flat shipping rate no matter what you buy or how much you spend, most times its a steal.
The Children’s Place has amazing sales too but sometimes I find their clothes a little to fancy for my little one, a lot of glitter is not necessarily what you want or need for a 15 month old but just this past week I got fleece footsie pajamas (we all know how important those are in the winter) for $3.24!!!
Area Kids has been great for getting Bugaboo stroller accessories — they have a lot of stuff on hand and if they have to order something it always arrives lickety-split. They usually have a great selection of clothes on sale too.
Pizzazz Kidz (not sure of the spelling) on Court Street is another place I never walk out of empty-handed. They carry lots of breastfeeding paraphernalia, clothing, feeding supplies, strollers — any gear you can think of.
Online I constantly shop 800diapers.com and csnbaby.com (free shipping).
