Have you ever thought to yourself, “I wish I knew Spanish {French, Italian, Mandarin, Japanese}? Well, I wish I knew Spanish. I have tried and not been very successful, in fact I stink. I wish I had learned it as a child. I am sure some of you do too. So, here is our chance to have our own wee ones learn Spanish, Mandarin or French. Lango, a full-immersion foreign language program, is offering a semester long class of your choice for a giveaway!
Local Brooklyn mom, Sharon Ng, used to work for Sesame Workshop in Asia, and is bringing her expertise in language skills for younger kids to us! Sharon was visiting a friend’s family in San Franciso, where she attended a Lango class out there. She really loved it and wanted to bring Lango here. Talk about initiative! The native-speaking teachers teach the targeted language through using music, games, puppets, art and movement. Your babe can start as young as 18 months.

If you want to try a class out in the meantime, Sharon is offering FREE Lango demo classes to everyone this week and next (your first class is always free): (These are also listed on our Google Calendar)

I want my daughter to continue learning Chinese since our family is from Taiwan
I would love it if my son learned French – it’s a beautiful language, and I may be able to remember some of what I learned in high school
This is the greatest idea, ever!
My son will need to learn French to communicate with his paternal grandparents and extended family. Please help!
His bilingual English/Italian, and is learning Spanish in his school, by now picking up a new language should be a breeze.
I would love for my daughter to learn Spanish – and any other language for that matter! She loves to learn new words and communicate with people – even if they don’t understand her (as on trips to Mexico). She would love to learn it I’m sure (she goes to Hungarian Saturday school, born in Hungary).
Hi, I would choose Mandarin. My 3yo old is speaking English, Spanish and Japanese. He is multicultural – American, Japanese and Honduran. My husband is Japanese and I am Honduran/American. It is fun and challenging to keep up all three languages at home. I would love for him and me to learn Mandarin together so that we can communicate with more people.
I would love for my talkative daughter to learn Spanish. She has traveled two times to Mexico and each time, loves to learn new words. She speaks to people no matter if they know her language or not, but how wonderful if she could communicate in Spanish, in New York and for travel elsewhere!
Hi! I’d like to opt for the French class for my 2.5 year old. My son’s father is French, and anything that can reinforce the language would be great. Thanks!
I would choose to enroll Slate in French. I know French myself and I want to be able to reinforce what he has learned at home. This class would give us a reason to use French and a way to talk about different people and cultures.
I would love for my 1 1/2 year old to learn French. When I was a teen I wanted to learn French but we moved to a Spanish-speaking country when I started high school. I went to an English school, but I had to take Spanish classes and wasn’t able to also take French. Now I still want to learn French. My wife already speaks French and maybe if my son learned I would finally also learn myself.
I’d choose Spanish, a language he can practice with native speakers all around town.
Definitely Spanish. We’ve been lucky enough to have a spanish speaking nanny so he is on the way but she is leaving for maternity leave
. We have family in mexico and I’m always mortified that I’m the only one in the family who doesn’t speak spanish. ouch.
I would love for my toddler to learn Mandarin because it might be a more widely spoken language in our future culture. Thanks a bunch!
Would love for our girls to know Spanish, in part so they can communicate with their great-grandma and abulito, who are fluent. My husband and I are definitely not!
I would pick Spanish. My husband can speak Spanish and I can’t so we speak English in the house. I would love for my toddler to learn it.
French…half of my husbands family lives in French speaking countries and I want our son to be able to communicate with his family!
I’d love for my daughter to learn some Spanish so that she can communicate with more of our friends and neighbors in their first language.
I would love for my son to learn French, because I studied it when I was younger. I’d love to take him to France someday. What a great giveaway!
I’m in the process of trying to teach my kids French, cause that is the language I know.
My kids are almost 4 and almost 7.
It seems a shame to me that foreign language is not taught at least 3x a week in our public schools at the younger ages, when it is easily absorbed.
Any of them would be great, but I would choose Mandarin because of many things people have said, Chinese has the most speakers in the world! Spanish is easier for him to learn as he has family that speaks it, they teach it in school, and it’s all around us! But Mandarin is harder to find and just as useful!
She loves Dora and Diego… Spanish it is! But they all sound wonderful. Thanks!
Definitely Spanish! Living and working in NY, I feel as if I’m at a disadvantage not speaking Spanish. I think it’s so important for children to learn more than one language at a young age. We’re trying to teach my 2 year old some Spanish, but Dora the Explorer isn’t quite cutting it!
I’d love her to learn French…thanks!
I want my daughter to be able to speak to her grandparents in their native language, Mandarin.
We speak English and Spanish (the basics!) at home and I would love for my daughter to also learn French. I think building language skills for children is very important and I think my daughter would benefit from it. I also hope to some day live in France so this could be a jump start on the language!
An aside to the parents above who are speaking Mandarin to their children: I’d love to pool resources, maybe have a playgroup, or at least network. Also, our Chinese nanny is available part-time in the fall. wilkin dot jennifer at gmail
I would choose Mandarin. My daughter already speaks it but she only gets it from one person, and it’s important to have varied input so the vocabulary is richer!
I’d love my son to learn Mandarin. It is such a beautiful language that I regret not learning when I was a kid!
Amazing give away! I’d love for my 3yr old to learn Mandarin! I’d like him to learn Chinese before someone tells him that learning languages is difficult.
I’d like the Mandarin class for age 5 please! Preferably in Windsor Terrace! Or nearby!
Thanks!
I would love for my child to learn Spanish for a number of reasons. It is important to me that he be a global citizen, travel and have the ability to truly experience the culture of the places he may roam. We live in New York which is a multilingual city, Spanish is the second most spoken language here so this will enable him to learn more about his neighbors and break communication barriers. Lastly once he learns Spanish he can easily learn. Portuguese, French and Italian…oh joy!!!
I would love for my daughter to learn French
I would love for my son to attend a Mandarin class. I’m speaking Chinese with him now but it would be great to have the reinforcement of another teacher, class and kids to help build his language skills.
i would love for my kids to learn spanish
i wish i would have actually studied when i had a chance to learn it in school!
Hi! Love your site. If we’re the lucky one Carlie will take mandarin for tots+ parents (so I’ll get to learn too
): China is the next ‘new world’, we’ve got to get ready.
I would chose Spanish because we live in Texas and it’s a great skill to have here! Thanks!
I definitely want my daughter to speak Mandarin – it is a useful language to know given China’s rise.
I’d love my son to learn Spanish. We’ve always lived close to many Spanish speaking people and I’d love for him to be able to build strong and genuine relationships with our neighbors.
I would give my daughter the gift of Spanish. We adore Spain and cannot wait to return for vacations as often as possible. She can learn other languages in school later, but Spanish could be used daily by her as soon as she knows it.
I would love for my daughter to learn to speak Spanish, it is spoken (the nice spanglish broken way) in our home but I would like her to really learn Spanish AND English
Definitely a great giveaway. I’d love for my daughter to learn Spanish. I speak it, and it has enriched my life to be able speak a second language.
What a great giveaway! I would love for my son to know Spanish. I regret not learning it when I was growing up.
