I got three emails this morning about proposed budge cuts for the beloved Brooklyn Public Library. What?! No weekend service, half the amount of books for our kids? PLEASE click on the link below (it takes 13 seconds- and send an email to city council). THANK YOU.
Brooklyn Public Library is facing a proposed budget cut of $17.5 MILLION dollars.
This cut would:
- ELIMINATE as many as 272 positions – that’s one out of every four full-time BPL employees.
- REDUCE service to five days a week at most neighborhood libraries – with limited weekend hours.
- Buy 185,000 FEWER books, DVDs and CDs
Between now and June 30th, the City will be deciding the library’s budget for next year.
