Those of you who read this blog regularly, know what a terrible cook I am. I mean reallllyyy terrible. I have tried to cook steel cut oatmeal overnight at least, mmmmm……9 times and have always end up with crusty hard oatmeal. Not appetizing.
So, was I thrilled to read our new Foodie Expert, Debbie Koenig’s recipe for cooking Steel Cut Oatmeal overnight. Thank you Debbie. You have saved our family!
Here are her complete instructions, sprinkled with her usual humor.

P.S. I had NO idea what a slow cooker was, so I had to look it up. It is the same thing as a crockpot.

You can soak the steel cut oats overnight in the water you will cook them in. This cuts cooking time down to about 20 minutes in the AM and is totally safe.
