Dear All,
Somehow I feel like this post needs to be in a letter format, maybe because it has been so long since I wrote, I feel I need some intimate way of reaching you.
So, it has been a really up and down summer. As many of you know, this site was hacked. Yes, this little old nothing site was hacked by a Russian consortium! Sounds exotic and exciting, but really it just stunk. My site had oodles of gambling and porn links from it so Google deindexed it and with that I lost my search functions on the site. So, I might as well just have been floating through space, with nothing to tether myself to as no one could find the site or anything on it. So, I gave up….for a few days which I thought might turn into weeks, but which has really turned into months.
A few days into my hiatus from the site, our son Birch was hit by a kid on a bicycle in the park. He’s okay, but his finger was partially severed and it scared the $%&*! out of me. I had nightmares for 36 straight nights and still get an occasional one. Of course I know we are so lucky that nothing more happened (and I still thank God every day for that), but it rocked my world a lot. (By the way, his finger is back together and healing fine.)

Ahhh....summer!
Then, I lost my internal hard drive on my computer. And, silly me, I haven’t backed it up in 3 years. Ridiculous isn’t it?! So, there and then I told Papa Tree that I wasn’t meant to be on the computer anymore.
But, today my hard drive came back to me with most of my data on it (thanks Mac Concierege!) and I am feeling a little better about the whole thing.
I have decided to take the rest of the summer off- I guess that really only means another 2 weeks- but what the hell, why not stretch it out? If I can make a “go” of the site by December and monetize it somehow then I will continue it ad infinitium or nauseum…that is until Birch and Willow get too old for me to write about anymore.
Thank you all for your support, notes and concern about the site. Really, it was sooooooo nice to know you care.
So, until Labor Day!
Love,
Karen
