I always check offmanhattan.com for great side trips from Brooklyn. All of their trips are car-free, green getaways. However, you can always drive (don’t tell them though!)

As I used to live in the very boring town of Wilmington, Delaware where I taught at the University of Delaware, I was especially interested in their advice for a trip to New Hope in Pennsylvania.  I (ashamedly), never went there,  but I have always heard wonderful things.

Offmanhattan’s post about New Hope includes a trip on a vintage train (45 min), a bike ride and leaf viewing. Our train nut Birch would flip at this trip!
