A sock turkey?

Thank you all for your great entries about your favorite holiday activities. So many of them were creative and meaningful, I was really impressed. If I was entering, I might have just said something simple, but ALL of you said something thoughtful.

Here were some great ideas of holiday activities that people wrote in:

• We also brought a holiday journal, we plan to paint her feet with the family tomorrow and do foot prints to start it, and every year plan to write comments and her letters to Santa, so she can look back on them years later.
• My favortie activity is one that my mother started when I was a little girl. every year we would get an amaryllis bulb and watch it grow and flower .It grows pretty fast so I would get so excited. When we didn’;t live in the same city we would both get one and talk about its progress. Now this year I am starting the same tradition with my own daughter. I am so excited.
• I love to make jars of home-made apple butter, and cranberry-jalapeno Jelly! Last year I made crackers to go with the spreads, and hope to do the same this year! I try to make enough to give away as gifts too.
• My favorite activity though is visiting the Santa Claus at ABC Home & Carpet – free and such a great santa!
• i love making sock turkeys with my kids!
• My favorite tradition (that I have carried down from my parents) is that my daughters are not simply given their Chanukah gifts…they have to find them. They have to play “hot & cold” to find them. I have been told that we have confused searching for the Afikommen on Passover and Chanukah…but I don’t care…it just makes giving them the gifts more fun and it makes it more satisfying to my daughters when they find them!
