Do you remember Andy Lewis who cheated parents out of tuition money, kids out of a safe school, teachers out of their salaries at Brooklyn Children’s Academy Preschool and then had the gall to start a summer camp in Fort Greene, taking more parents’ money? Andy Lewis has finally met his fate. As reported by the Brooklyn Eagle, Lewis has been sentenced to serve 18 months on charges of misappropriating more than half a million dollars in U.S. Department of Agriculture funds. After his jail time, he will have three more years of supervised release. The jail time is for misappropriating money that was supposed to pay for free hot meals for underprivilidged kids attending programs operated by Lewis’ Better Brooklyn Community Center (BBCC), the preschool’s parent organization.
My favorite part: Judge Kiyo Matsumoto forbid Lewis from ever operating a not-for-profit organization ever again. No more unsafe preschools, no more phony summer camps, “youth connections” or…anything.
