Camp Fairs in Brooklyn and Downtown this weekend
I don’t know about you, but when people ask me what my best educational experience was, I say “sleepaway camp.” My husband has never understood “camp.” As a farm kid, he couldn’t go away, but he can milk any cow and pick grapes off vines like the best of them. A few months ago, he went to my camp reunion and slideshow. Let me say that he held my hand throughout the slide show, beaming. Now, he’s ready to enroll our kids for the summer of 2017! Meeting the camp director, seeing images and hearing alumni talk about the place made it “real” for him.
This weekend, you have that opportunity too. New York Family and the American Camp Association- NY (ACA-NY) have put together two camp fairs so that your family can check out over 40 camps: local, specialty and sleepaway. The camp ages range from 3 to 13- so it’s never too early! For more details and to pre-register, visit newyorkfamily.com. For anyone who pre-registers and attends a camp fair, the special raffles include a free family winter weekend for four (two adults, two children) at the Woodloch Resort in the Poconos, which is regularly cited at one of the best winter family resorts in the country and also a Shred Sled!

Saturday, January 30: 12-3 pm at Friends Seminary School at 222 East 16th Street (btw. 3rd Ave and Rutherford Place)
Sunday, January 31: 12 – 3pm at Berkeley Carroll School 762 President Street, Park Slope (between 6th and 7th Aves)
