Cobble Hill/Downtown Brooklyn is getting a new high-end retail resident. Barneys Co-Op announced this week that they will be moving in at 194 Atlantic Ave, near Urban Outfitters and just a skip-hop from Trader Joe’s. If you don’t know what Barney’s Co-Op is, it’s a little less expensive than the regular Barney’s. And, I mean just a little. What they do have is: beauty products, handbags, shoes alongside, of course, clothes. I heard that they sell kids’ clothes, but I didn’t remember that from the one in Chelsea. Anyone? The Barney’s Co-Op currently has stores in Chelsea, Soho, and the Upper West Side.
Some people on message boards and forums have commented about the move:
It only takes us 15 minutes to get to the one in Soho, why do we need one here?
Thrilled to have a place to do all my shopping- forget Manhattan- I don’t ever have to leave Brooklyn now.
It will ruin the boutique-feel of the neighborhood.
My favorite comment though comes from Brownstoner:
What happens if you miss your shift? Can you still shop there?
What do you think?
