Even in family-centric Park Slope it’s difficult sometimes to find a NICE place to eat where kids are allowed and – gasp – even welcomed! I found it folks: Barrio at 210 7th Avenue! Sure, it didn’t open yesterday. But it’s both a place where you could go for an evening out (sans kiddos), or, have a “date night” dinner with the kids in tow. What does NICE mean? It means grown up food, a great bar selection, and a peaceful, attractive ambience.

They have an awesome cocktail menu and, being from Texas, I can tell you their margaritas are wonderful! Their food is delicious but they also have a great kid’s menu, which, my picky son inhaled in 2 minutes flat. Although, I will say he didn’t try his plantains (if he had he’d have been hooked) but we got to eat them, so really it’s a win-win. AND, they also bring you colors and a placemat to entertain your child. My husband and I were actually able to have some uninterrupted, grown-up conversation! It’s crazy, I know, but it can be done!

They also have a great patio, perfect for the warmer months and a terrific spot to people watch, or in my son’s case: car watch.

And for you moms out there who want somewhere relaxed but nice to go for a mommy-and-me get together Barrio has 2 for 1 Margaritas on Mondays, 4:30-7pm. Other specials include:
Mondays: Taco madness: $16.95 gets unlimited tacos, rice, beans, and sangria!
Tuesdays: First Tuesday of every month has BINGO for the whole family starting at 5pm. You can even win prizes!
Wednesdays: Happy Night, which means happy hour all night: $5 margaritas, $4 Dos Equis, $3 Barrio shooters at the bar.
Thursdays: complimentary soup or salad with any entrée and all deserts are $3.95!
Fridays: Anything with strawberries is $5 – this means their awesome margaritas!
Saturdays/Sundays: FREE Sangria at brunch!
