You can’t help noticing the flyers, menus and circulars that pile up on the doorsteps in Brooklyn.  A lot of people have created homemade signs that say “no flyers, no menus” to dissuade advertisers from leaving their items. If you live in Fort Greene and Clinton Hill, you are in luck because you don’t have to make your own.  On April 24, 10 am – noon, join Green Fort Greene & Clinton Hill (http://www.greenfgch.org/) in putting their “No Ad” signs up in those neighborhoods, and come home with your own sign. The group says that the signs have proven to work, eliminating a lot of trash and litter. They need a team of volunteers to  get 1,000 “No Ad” signs up so if you join and cover 2 blocks, you can help them make their goal. Take your family and spend a couple of hours and make a big difference.  To volunteer or get more information, please contact [email protected].

AND, if you don’t live in Fort Greene/Clinton Hill- consider downloading the one below or making your own to celebrate Earth Day. According to Sheepshead Bites: “The sign (below) (is) available to download by clicking here, or you can snag a printed one at Cymbrowitz’ community office (1800 Sheepshead Bay Road) or by calling (718) 743-4078.
