This is the coolest bookmobile I have ever seen- not the one that is coming to Brooklyn though!

I guess if there is any time for a library to close for repairs, the early summer is the best time.  However, having your neighborhood library close for any length of time is a total bummer.  BUT, thanks to a new Bookmobile- the children won’t be left out.

Brooklyn Public Library will temporarily close the Greenpoint neighborhood library (107 Norman Avenue) after the close of business on Friday, June 4 for repairs. The repairs include: roof removal and replacement, minor façade remediation, interior ceiling tile replacement and lighting upgrade. They expect the library to be closed for 3 months and plan to open it on Tuesday, September 7, 2010 at 10:00 a.m., its regularly scheduled opening time.

All Greenpoint Library material holds will be available for pick up at the Leonard Library located at 81 Devoe Street, from Monday, June 7 through Friday, July 2, 2010.

Beginning June 8, BPL will provide interim service in front of the library from a new state-of-the-art Bookmobile on Tuesdays from 11 AM to 4 PM.

While the project proceeds, you can also visit our nearby libraries:
Bushwick Library – 340 Bushwick Avenue; (718) 602-1348
Leonard – 81 Devoe Street; (718) 486-3365
Williamsburg– 340 Division Avenue; (718) 302-3485

Borrowed materials may be returned at any BPL library. You can also renew items online at www.brooklynpubliclibrary.org or over the telephone at 718.230.6700, 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

I have heard that the Williamsburg Library’s child room is lovely…anyone know what it’s like?

  2. This is so much nicer then the bookmobile I met for the first time last weekend. So clean and sharp. Love it.

  3. Isn’t that the coolest? I want to LIVE in that bookmobile! The W’burg branch sounds worth visiting then- maybe on a hot summer day. Glad to know- thanks.

  4. Dang, that bookmobile is a whole lot nicer than the Greenpoint library on its best day. And yes, the Wburg branch has a pretty great children’s section–it’s the whole top floor so noise isn’t much of an issue, and there are some toys to play with while you’re there.
