River to River Festival
This weekend it’s easy to pair fun activities with hearing some good music. Head to Governor’s Island for artist-inspired mini golf or crafts sponsored by the Children’s Museum of the Arts AND hear Roseanne Cash sing some of her country best. Battery Park State Park is a nice park with fantastic views (and that wild turkey who runs around!)- and this weekend the River to River Festival there will have a fantastic parade of 76 trombones (YES!) and kiddie favorite Dan Zanes. If what you crave is some air conditioning (and who can blame you with 93 degree weather in the forecast), the Brooklyn Museum’s free First Saturday, might be just what the doctor ordered. While you are looking at the new Andy Warhol exhibit or their superb Hudson River artists collection, you can boogie to Brooklyn Bands at 5 pm. Of course there is always the music of 4th of July fireworks: bang, pop and awwwww! Have a happy 4th of July weekend!
