Discovery Workshops launch on July 1—free garden-based workshops for kids in the Discovery Garden!
Yesterday (sorry that this is late!), The Brooklyn Botanic Garden launched their summer season of Discovery Workshops—free garden-based workshops for kids in the Discovery Garden.
Throughout July and August, the BBG offers fun, hands-on workshops for kids of all ages on Tuesday and Thursday afternoons. Drop in anytime between 1 and 3 p.m. to give your family a firsthand learning experience about plants and nature.
During July, their workshop is Botany for Kids. Each week, your kids will explore a different botanical theme—such as plant parts, plant needs, and plants we eat—and do an activity, like making a “monster plant” collage or planting a tropical tree to take home.
During August, they will be giving kids the chance to flex their creativity with Earth Art. Your child will use natural and recycled material to make a garden-related craft each week, such as a soil collage on worm day or a recycled rain gauge as we learn about the water cycle.
