As an art student, I enrolled in a “Winter Term in New York” class where we visited NY museums, galleries and studios. Smartest thing I ever did- as it was the first step to my falling in love with NY.
During that winter term class, we made a trek in a blizzard out to Long Island City, Queens. We saw the Noguchi Museum, Socrates Sculpture Park, Philip Perlstein’s and Mark di Suvero’s private studios. It is still one of the most memorable days.
This weekend, Kids Club Thirteen is hosting an event at one of those treasured places: The Noguchi Museum in Long Island City, Queens.
Kids Club Thirteen Members will have featured activities in the Member-Zone include a hands-on musical project, Bendaroos art sculpture, and an instrument-themed episode from the PBS Kids show, Design Squad. Stick around in the afternoon for a performance in the garden by Talujon Percussion Quartet.
Admission to the museum is free for Kids Club Members only, as is participation in the activities. Not a member? Join before you go – click here . Kids Club members enjoy 13 Fun & Free events a year which can save your family hundreds of dollars in entrance fees to your favorite places. (It is truly a GREAT deal).
Make a day of it: If you haven’t explored this corner of Queens, you may want to start the morning off in the Socrates Sculpture Park across the street from The Noguchi Museum.
Details: Sunday, July 11th, 11:00-2:00pm
Disclosure: I am an ambassador for Kids Club 13- which means I get free admission to the events.
