Hi and thanks for reading!

Join Brooklyn author Heather Swain for a toy making demonstration and book signing. Her new book:  Make This Toy: 101 Clever Creations from Everyday Items will debut on July 24th, 3:00 pm, at WORD Bookstore (http://www.wordbrooklyn.com/) in Greenpoint. Simply take the G line to the Greenpoint Avenue stop.  You and your family will learn how to make a milk carton into a balloon boat, a cardboard tube into a kaleidoscope, and tons of other fun things from everyday household items. A great way to have fun together and recycle!

Before you poo-poo the idea of trekking on the G train, Heather suggests you make a whole day of it: “There’s lots-o-fun stuff to do with the kids in the area like check out the waterfront view of Manhattan at Transmitter Park (end of Greenpoint Avenue), have a Korean hotdog with kimchi ketchup at Mrs. Kim’s (160 Franklin Street), and show the kiddies a real live record store (with vinyl) at Permanent Record (181 Franklin Street).”

This fabulous collection of fun is available at local bookstores, amazon.com and bn.com. Hope to see you at the signing!
