Try a sunset drum circle at Battery Park Fri night

Friday July 23rd

10:30 am: Bari Koral
Bari Koral brings her acoustic rock / folky trio to the great outdoors.
Details: Sara Delano Roosevelt Park Forsyth and East Houston  Performance site it on the soccer courts Cost: Free

10:30 am: Billy B
Billy B mixes science education with music in an interactive way getting kids to slide like tectonic plates and pretend to be leaves photosynthesizing.
Details: Tappen Park, Canal St, Wright to Bay Sts, Staten Island   Cost: Free

6:30 pm: Sunset Jam on the Hudson
I’ve been curious about how the kids would feel about a drum circle.  A drum circle at sunset seems an ideal way to introduce them.  There will be master drummers to teach basic patterns or just let the kids tire themselves out so they sleep late on Saturday.

Saturday July 24th

11:00 am: Family Picnic Concert Series
This picnic will feature the AMS String Quartet that offers a diverse program entertaining for kids and adults.
Details: Morris-Jumel Mansion (in Roger Morris Park)  65 Jumel Terrace, Manhattan  Cost: $15 per person, children under 12 are free.

12:00 pm: Vital Theatre Company Favorites
If your kids are anything like mine, you’ll want to catch this medley of Vital Theatre Company’s best shows but particularly excerpts from Pinkalicious, one of our kids’ favorite reads.
Details: Bryant Park 6th Avenue between 40th & 42nd Streets   Cost: Free  Rain Venue: NYPL Children’s Center at 42nd Street and Fifth Avenue.

12:00 pm: Justin Roberts
Justin Roberts has a whole new set of catchy songs to wow the crowd with from his new CD, Jungle Gym.  His live show is truly electric thanks in no small part to the Not Ready For Naptime Players who bring an energy and enthusiasm to the stage that gets everyone in the room bopping, dancing or singing along.  Keep an ear out for my favorite tune on the new CD, “Trick or Treat”.

1:00 pm: Clinton Cove Festival with the Mercantillers
Come hear the bluegrass and folk music of the Mercantillers, then enjoy all the day’s activities including kayaking, field races, and arts & crafts.
Details: Clinton Cove Park West 55th and 12th Avenue, Manhattan  Cost: Free

Sunday July 25th

1:00 pm: Gowanus Music Club Concert
Come check out a showcase by the rock band from the stable of the Gowanus Music Club, a school of rock for kids and adults.
Details: Union Hall 702 Union St (between Fifth and Sixth Aves, Park Slope, Brooklyn )   Cost: $10, under 18 $5

2:00 pm: Adichie and The Afro Jungle Jazz Band and Dancers
Get down with the sounds of Adichie and his band which hails from many African, Carribean nations and is reflected in the many styles they play from Afro-pop to Soukous.
Details: Flushing Town Hall Garden 137-35 Northern Boulevard Flushing , NY  Cost: Free  Dance lesson starts at 1:15pm

4:00 pm: NikosKids Concert
You may know Nikoli Moderbacher from Music Together and his sing-a-longs at the Tea Lounge.  Come sing and dance to songs from his new CD Tabula Rasa.
Details: City Treehouse 129A W 20th Street   Cost:   $20
