The ribbon cutting ceremony this week

It seems like if you blink these days, a store closes and another one opens in its place. A new shop called “livie and boo” has replaced Corduroy Kid at its Prospect Heights location.  The ribbon cutting ceremony for its inauguration was this Tuesday- and store namesakes “livie and boo” were there. (see top photo)

The new store is named after owner Chantal’s daughter Olivia (called Livie for short) and her dog, Bailey boo (a white westie). It offers “nearly new” (gently used) clothes for kids 0-6 years and new toys; mostly educational and wooden ones. Chantal did visual merchandising for Anthropologie, Urban Outfitters and Burberry so she obviously knows how to create a good look. Interior photos of the shop show a great eye and attention to detail. I love the display of artwork collected from Etsy that is displayed behind the counter. Namesakes Livie and Boo were the inspiration for the collection.

The boutique is set up for customers and their kids: Livie and Boo are frequently there padding around, working at the activity table, drawing and running the trains on the train table.

Looking to sell some of your high-end duds? Chantal is looking for clothes for ages 2T and 6 years. Please make sure it is all laundered, with no stains, tears or rips. She gives you 25% cash for what she thinks it will retail for and 40% store credit.

  1. I went in here today and found the place lovely: the owner’s husband was there (totally sweet), the dog and great used clothes. My daughter played at the train table so I could shop without distraction. Their selection of shoes for girls was particularly good- and all in excellent condition.
