11:00 am: Weekly Sing-along with Lloyd Miller

At this weekly jazz jam, children under 16 can bring their own instruments and let loose alongside the band for a few tunes.

10:30 am: Meet the Maestro
Little Orchestra Society gives little ones a chance to try conducting while learning the language of the baton from Mr Maestro.

Chocolate Chip Cookie concert emcee and mascot Baker Bobbie’s missing imagination whisk sets the stage for a special kids’ concert in which a group of four flute-playing detectives help the Baker retrace her steps, uncover clues, and find her beloved kitchen tool.

11:00 am: Jazz for Kids: Smoke’s Saturday Sandbox
Smoke presents an entertaining introduction to jazz for kids – an interactive Saturday jazz show that features vocalist and actor Lea DeLaria and her swinging band, and an all-organic brunch specifically designed for kids.

11:00 am: Lunch Money
South Carolina’s Lunch Money performs indie rock for kids, with an energetic salute to the stuff of childhood: roller coasters, giant cookies, and getting dizzy. Elizabeth Mitchell joins the band for a song or two.

1:00 pm: Kids Rock: Kids Need a Melody
This sounds like an amazing afternoon of music! Dave Lambert of the Fuzzy Lemons joins Rebecca Frezza, Suzi Shelton, Baze and His Silly Friends, Jeremy Plays Guitar, and many other awesome family-rock stars at KIDS ROCK, a fund-raiser for Kids Need a Melody, which provides music classes and instruments for kids in the shelter system. Face painting, crafts, a kids’ menu, and music booth, and more await. Purchase tickets in advance.

1:00 pm: Jazz for Young People: Who is Louis Armstrong?
Trumpeter Sean Jones and guests riff in a family concert illuminating Satchmo’s brilliance and irrepressible charm and wit. Arrive early for free pre-concert activities for the whole family (12n and 2pm in the Atrium).

3:00 pm: Childrens Concert: Eleanor Dubinsky and her Global Roots Band
Known for her multilingual jazz-infused pop tunes, this up-and-coming singer and songwriter performs with an equally eclectic array of instruments. Throughout the concert the songstress will invite the audience try their hands at percussion and songwriting and contribute to a collaborative piece with the band.

Sunday January 30th
11:00 am: Brady Rymer and the Little Band That Could
The rootsy kid-rocker brings his all-American, R&B-inflected tunes to the city, playing hits like the piano-pounding “Road Trip” and the infectious “Jump Up (It’s a Good Day).”

11:00 am: The Jumpin’ Juniper Show
Join local Brooklyn favorite Suzi Shelton as she returns to the stage at Brooklyn Arts Exchange along with rockin’ NYC guitarist Steve Elliot and special guest Albert Elias for a musical concert full of fun!

2:15 pm: Sounds of Korea
The mesmerizing “Fan Dance” and “Drums of Ecstasy” are among the dazzling & engaging repertoire of Sounds of Korea. Under the direction of Sue Yeon Park, noted master artist and recent recipient of the NEA National Fellowship Heritage Award, their beautifully crafted instruments and colorful costumes play an integral role in this stunning production.

Our music reviewer and listings editor, Charles Mister is part of the dynamic duo Fati & Charles, called Abbasubi. They perform songs for children in Spanish from their original CD, El Baile del Sombrero. Fati, originally from Argentina & Charles, a native of Brooklyn, live in Midwood, Brooklyn with their two children who they are raising bilingually and who were the inspiration for the CD.
