Friday April 29th
11:00 am: Weekly Sing-along with Lloyd Miller
Lloyd’s energy, humor, and wonderful music always entertains and educates children and adults at his weekly sing-along.

7:00 pm: The Alex Levin Trio’s Friday Night Jazz Shows
At this weekly jazz jam, children under 16 can bring their own instruments and let loose alongside the band for a few tunes.

Saturday April 30th
11:00 am: Neighborhood Concert: Musical Explorers
At this concert hosted by Carnegie Hall, children will meet local musicians, learn songs from different cultures and engage in interactive activities.

11:00 am: Sugar Free Allstars
Oklahoma’s Sugar Free Allstars blend funk, Memphis soul, and Hammond organ-drenched gospel into a rock & roll package for kids and families.

11:00 am: Tribeca Family Festival Street Fair
Popular family-friendly bands offer free concerts to close the day, including The Fuzzy Lemons and Hot Peas N’ Butter. The Tribeca Fun Squad leads Hula Hoop Contests, Dance-Offs and other Wacky Street Games.

12:00 pm: David Weinstone & the Music for Aardvarks Band
Veteran kindie rocker David Weinstone (he’s also the creator of Music for Aardvarks classes) celebrates the release of his 16th children’s album, All I Want! Every family will receive a copy of the new disc.

1:00 pm: Recess Monkey
Jam to a live performance by the Recess Monkeys, a sensational trio of musicians who also happen to be elementary school teachers.

Sunday May 1st
10:00 am: Karen K and the Jitterbugs
Come celebrate May Day with Karen K and the Jitterbugs for a hand-clapping, foot-stomping acoustic jam to kick off Spring.

11:00 am: Percussion People
Fidgety hands are put to good use constructing instruments in a pre-show workshop (10:30am). Then, the Percussion People drum up rhythm using a wide range of instruments, from triangles and bongos to several not-so-standard melody makers. Be prepared to endure some serious noise.

1:00 pm: Recess Monkey
The Recess Monkeys are taking over NY! Now they’re at the Tribeca Y.

12:00 pm: Lucky Diaz and the Family Jam Band
Oh, Lucky Day!, the debut album from this West Coast import, is poised to blow up the kindie scene with such ditties as the sunny “Like Never Before,” ’60s beach-party tune “Gato Astronauto” and the ukulele-strumming “Light Beams.”

12:00 pm: Kindiefest
If you love kids music, you’ve got to head to Kindiefest on Sunday. Each year, they put on a public show and it’s an amazing lineup in an intimate venue. You and your kids might not make it through all four hours of bands but I can assure you from last year that every group is uniquely amazing and enjoyable. Here’s the lineup:

1:00 pm: Meet the Music! Family Concert
The Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center brings fairy tales—heroes and villains alike—to life with “My What Big Ears You Have! The Better to Listen to Music, My Dear!”

1:00 pm – 8:00 pm: Tenth Annual Irish Arts Center NYC Dance Festival
Come out to the pier to enjoy a day of great Irish dancing performances, Irish dance workshops, Irish language classes, a singers’ circle, traditional Irish music sessions, kids’ arts and crafts, and face painting.

2:00 pm: Jazz for Kids
Introduce your kids to the joys of jazz at the Jazz Standard’s weekly Sunday brunch program. The Jazz Standard Youth Orchestra, made up of talented youngsters between the ages of 11 and 18, provides the music, while your family chows down on a barbecue brunch from Blue Smoke.

Jeff Eisenberg’s Junior Jam hits the Bowery Kids stage with catchy and creative children’s pop songs, including numbers from Wake Up, a 2010 Nickelodeon’s Parents’ Picks finalist for Best Kids’ Music CD.

4:00 pm: Little Ustaads Indian Music
Kids can discover and appreciate the world of Indian classical music through rhythmic tunes, rich vocals, mini instruments, and vibrant visuals as they unleash the artist within themselves during a unique class hosted by Little Ustaads. Everyone gets their own instrument to play as they learn the secrets and enjoy the charm of traditional music presented in a contemporary style.
