The one place I refuse to go to in Brooklyn is the post office. It’s like hell on earth- you wait in a snaking, long line with other disgruntled customers, and then someone snaps. It always happens- and really can you blame them? The last time I did go to the post office was 2 years ago because I needed passports for both my children. I called for an appointment, showed up at the p.o. with both kids, only to have to do the whole thing over again because I had put my signature in the wrong place. @#$*!*!. So, I’m encouraged about the news I got today: none of us have to visit the post office anymore to get our passports! This is a reason to celebrate.
Starting today, the Brooklyn Public Library will be the location of a brand new passport services center. It is the first library system in New York City to offer complete passport services, including photography, on Tuesday, May 31. Go Brooklyn! The new passport center at Central Library has flexible evening hours (woo hoo!) and is open seven days a week (double woo hoo!).
While you are there obtaining or renewing a passport, checkout the library’s maps, phrase books and travel guides.
