Brooklyn’s Beat is sponsoring the 2nd annual Brooklyn’s Best Jumpin’ Jazz Fest to Father’s Day, Juneteenth and Jazz history. Held at the Brooklyn Children’s Museum, there will be live performances by In Performance Music Workshop (IPMW) presenting a musical tribute to Dizzy Gillespie and a W.O.R.D. UP! reading of the book Dizzy by author Jonah Winter (1:00pm); All that Jazz & Blues featuring the Jazz duet DeeDee Michel’s and bassist Michael Max Fleming presenting an interplay between the bass violin and the human voice in their interpretation of several blues and jazz, blues and gospel compositions (2:30pm) and saxophonist, composer and educator Tia Fuller. Father’s Day Baby Massage and Bodywork Workshop at Caribou Baby

Part bonding experience with baby and part massage this is defiantly a relaxing way to celebrate Father’s Day. Held at Caribou Baby and taught by Ellynne Skove, founder of GoGo Babies, this two-hour workshop is designed to focus on active touch for baby and how that can greatly enhance development – particularly in language and social development. Fathers (and Mothers too) will be able to learn deeper bonding and attachment, techniques to help soothe and calm baby, ways to nurture nervous system regulation and techniques to address congestion, colic, and digestive issues.

2nd Annual Father’s Day Event with Proud Poppas United

Fathers and their families are invited to the 2nd annual Proud Poppas United Father’s Day Event for a day of activities and family bonding. Held at the Prospect Park Picnic House, Proud Poppas United encourages families to come out and become engaged in activities that support a tradition of active and responsible fatherhood.

At the event, families can enjoy plenty of activities including morning yoga, organized games and activities for children. Goody bags will also be provided to the first 50 families. Additionally, there will also be raffle items such as movie tickets, local business/restaurant vouchers, sports paraphernalia, games & souvenirs. The New York City Downtown Boathouse is offering free kayaking trips on Father’s Day. There will also be experts on-hand to explain how to kayak and provide the proper equipment to send you and your family off on the Hudson. Families will have to sign a liability waiver and it is recommended that you wear a bathing suit, shorts and T-shirt.
