Even though we may get some thunder showers and hot, muggy days this week- make the most of it with by going to these cool events we discovered.  Starting with Tug & Barge Week, boat enthusiasts will love learning more about tugboats and barges through an interactive week of tours, films and exhibitions abroad real ships in Brooklyn Bridge Park. For something a little unusual, kids and their families can step into Coney Island’s past and check out a real circus sideshow or enjoy something mellow like checking out a viewing of the animated flick, Rango on the beach. There are also concerts like the Music in the Grove series with the Deedle Deedle Dees or BAM’s Rhythm and Blues Festival with the Urban Guerilla Orchestra. Tug & Barge Week
Ship enthusiasts will love this exciting tugboat event. Sponsored by the Waterfront Museum and the Tug Pegasus Preservation Project, Tug and Barge week includes free public tugboat trips and barge tours. Tiny Tunes for Tots Summer Music Literacy Program

Designed for kids 0 to age 5, this afternoon of music features guest musicians playing songs promoting literacy. Coney Island Circus Sideshow

Music In The Grove: Deedle Deedle Dees
The Music in the Grove’ concert series at Fort Greene features kid-friendly musical performances every Wednesday until August. This week the popular band the Deedle Deedle Dees are performing. This free outdoor summer concert series continues with a performance by the brass-bolstered party band, Urban Guerilla Orchestra. Journey to the Past (Costumed Storytelling) at the New York Transit Museum
Your child can enjoy an exciting performance by a costumed storyteller in one of the New York Transit Museum’s historic train cars. Each week a different costumed character brings transit history to life with an interactive 30-minute performance. For children ages 3 and over. Brooklyn Bridge Park Movies With A View
The 12th season of this exciting movie series is back. This week the Sweet Smell of Success (PG) is being show at Pier 1, along with a short film called Keith Reynolds Can’t Make It Tonight by Felix Massie and pre-show music supplied by DJ: Liondub. East River Park Thursday Nights with Summerstarz

Free Willy
Summerstarz continues this week at East River State Park with a screening of the popular movie Free Willy. Each program beings with Kids Hour at 6 pm, followed by live music at 7 pm and then the movie at sunset. This week Kids Hour will start at 6 pm with arts/crafts activities by the NY Road Runners Club and WMAAC. At 7 pm, Rarefaction will perform. Waterfront Workouts – Sunset Pilates
Lou Cornacchia, founder of Cobble Hill’s Body in Balance Studio, teaches this fun Intermediate Pilates Mat Class on Pier 6. Through the class students will learn proper techniques and develop core muscle strength, spinal alignment and shoulder stabilization. Classes are free and open to ages 16 and older and Pilates experience is suggested. Students should also bring a thick mat and a Dynaband to the class. Details: Pier 6 promenade (on the promenade on the north side of Pier 6, next to the sand volleyball courts). In event of rain, class will be held the following day (Friday) at the same time. Thursday, July 21sst Gates open at 7pm; Movie starts at 8pm
West Side Story Dance and Sing-Along
Celebrate Brooklyn is holding a fun dance and sing-along to the movie West Side Story. At this unique event, the lyrics will be shown on a huge outdoor screen that will also include instructions on how to dance to some of the famous steps. Sharks enter at 11th Street, Jets at 9th.
