The New York Transit Museum, one of my favorite cultural institutions in Brooklyn has some exciting and fun weekend events going on this summer. Located inside a decommissioned subway station, the museum is a fantastic place to learn about the city’s transportation history through hands-on exhibitions, educational tours and workshops for kids and adults. We love going there to wander and hopping on vintage trains and buses, but this summer you can also enjoy events like Transit Tots, an interactive story time and activity session or Journey to the Past, a performance led by costumed storytellers. Check out the museum’s fun summer lineup and let us know what you are excited to check out.

Journey to the Past (Costumed Storytelling)

Your child can enjoy an exciting performance by a costumed storyteller in one of the museum’s historic train cars. Each week a different costumed character brings transit history to life with an interactive 30-minute performance. For children ages 3 and over.
Transit Tots
Every Friday at 11am through August 19th
A popular hour-long program where educators read children’s books about transportation and then lead a hands-on activity, such as scavenger hunt or puppet-making. For children ages 2 to 5.
