Summertime is a great way to enjoy so many fun cultural events and activities in Brooklyn. This week we found everything from free yoga in Prospect Park, free dancing and free concerts with Starfish at the Carroll Park Kids Concert Series and Suzi Shelton at the Music In The Grove concert series in Fort Greene Park. We are also excited to announce our own event – a FREE Boot Camp in Prospect Park for moms who want to get back to their pre-pregnancy figure. This event still has 20 spots left and it promises to be an energizing workout that is designed for all fitness levels. Tug & Barge Week
Ship enthusiasts will love this exciting tugboat event. Sponsored by the Waterfront Museum and the Tug Pegasus Preservation Project, Tug and Barge week ends this week with group tours of The Waterfront Museum. Tiny Tunes for Tots Summer Music Literacy Program
Designed for kids 0 to age 5, this afternoon of music features guest musicians playing songs promoting literacy. Coney Island Circus Sideshow

MILF Boot Camp (Mothers Interested in Living Fit)
For one night only, Mind Over Matter is partnering with the A Child Grows in Brooklyn Meetup Group for a FREE Boot Camp in Prospect Park. This workout is for all moms who want to get back to their pre-pregnancy figure. The MILF Boot Camp (Mom Interested in Living Fit) is taught by Joshua who has been featured in Fitness magazine, American Baby, NY Family and on Channel 11. There are only 20 spots left, so sign up soon and reserve your spot ASAP. Don’t worry about your fitness level. He promises to adjust as needed. The Simply Bar will be handing out their protein bars (gluten free, kosher and vegan) to all the attendees, which you can down before or after your workout for some fast protein! City Teens Are Dancing Around Town
An exciting one-hour concert of original dances created and performed by an ensemble of New York City teens from the Young Dancemakers Company. Music In The Grove: Suzi Shelton
The Music in the Grove’ concert series at Fort Greene features kid-friendly musical performances every Wednesday until August. This week Suzi Shelton, a Brooklynite and mom of two, performs catchy tunes from her latest album, No Ordinary Day, as well as tunes from her popular first album, Simply Suzi. Carroll Park Kids Concert Series: Starfish
The Friends of Carroll Park are putting on a free music concert with a performance by the rocking band StarFish. The event will also include face painting by Gymstars, food from the MoxieSpot and crafts from 3:30pm to 5:30 pm, so be sure to come with some money for these treats. Journey to the Past (Costumed Storytelling) at the New York Transit Museum
Your child can enjoy an exciting performance by a costumed storyteller in one of the New York Transit Museum’s historic train cars. Mary Poppins
Summerstarz continues this week at East River State Park with a screening of the popular movie Mary Poppins. Each program beings with Kids Hour at 6 pm, followed by live music at 7 pm and then the movie at sunset. This week Kids Hour will start at 6 pm with activities provided by the Brooklyn Jazz Rebellion and Ms. J. At 7 pm, The Rockdoves will perform. Waterfront Workouts – Sunset Pilates
Lou Cornacchia, founder of Cobble Hill’s Body in Balance Studio, teaches this fun Intermediate Pilates Mat Class on Pier 6. Through the class students will learn proper techniques and develop core muscle strength, spinal alignment and shoulder stabilization. Classes are free and open to ages 16 and older and Pilates experience is suggested. Students should also bring a thick mat and a Dynaband to the class. Mark Morris Dance Group with The Brooklyn Philharmonic and The Brooklyn Interdenominational Choir
Celebrate Brooklyn is hosting a fun musical evening with the Mark Morris Dance Group and Maestro Alan Pierson and the with the Brooklyn Philharmonic. The evening will include works such as Resurrection and Lucky Charms with the Brooklyn Interdenominational Choir joining in on Gloria for a powerful finale.
