Still from Yogawoman

It’s so easy to forget about your needs as a parent. Do you forget to put the sunblock on yourself, but not your kids? How about eating a decent meal slowly? Or read a book to yourself?! We found some great activities for you at the Brooklyn Museum where you can get lost in another culture, enjoy music and even learn a new skill. And, if you want to include the kids…. Target First Saturdays are always a fun event for both kids and adults and this month the museum is celebrating Caribbean culture with curator talks, music, films and a late-night dance party. Enjoy some stimulating gallery talk with a tour of  Vishnu: Hinduism’s Blue-Skinned Savior or check out the documentary Yogawoman. There are also art sessions to learn about mehindi or the art of henna and the chance to smooth out with some jazz music by Rudresh Mahanthappa. Support the museum this August and enrich your mind with these unique exhibits right in the heart of Brooklyn.
