After Labor Day, the hunt for good kids’ classes begins and we found something unique being offered this fall. Add Flamenco lessons to your “must check out” list where children 8 to 16 years old can master this technique and its beautiful movements. Taught by Maya de Silva, a professional dancer and teacher with 25 years of experience, the classes focus on learning about this Spanish dance through proper posture, arm and hand movements, footwork and flamenco rhythms like hand-clapping and traveling steps. The choice costumes are a just a side benefit. The real benefits are learning grace, movement and even a little Spanish dance terminology. Flamenco classes begin in September so be sure to register soon – they fill up quickly.
