The Bumbo Baby Seat is fairly ubiquitous in Brooklyn: you see it in people’s homes: on floors, on tables, on beds- all used to assist a baby in sitting up. Unfortunately though, at least 84 incidents have been reported in which babies fell from their Bumbo: 20 of which suffered skull-fractures. This can happen when infants wiggle out of or fall from the seat. Today, approximately 4 million Bumbos were voluntarily recalled.
Five years ago, Bumbo also voluntarily recalled their seats in order to add a warning label on them. The warning advised parents not to put the seats on raised surfaces where children were apt to fall.
What do you do if you have a Bumbo now?
Bumbo International is providing repair kits that will include a strap to secure babies in the seats. You can order the free repair kit at http://www.recall.bumbousa.com or call (866) 898-4999 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. CT Monday through Thursday and between 8 a.m. and 12:30 p.m. CT on Friday.
