Fort Greene Park’s Kids Music Series Starts this Week: Music in the Grove

Dancers have plenty of room to swing, jump and twirl at the Music in the Grove series.

Starting this week, top kids musical performers take the stage at the ‘Music in the Grove’ concert series at Fort Greene Park. This is one the best concert series in Brooklyn for  kids. There’s ample stroller parking, room for dancing and shady area to plant your blanket and watch the show.

Sponsored by the Fort Greene Park Conservancy, an organization that provides music and opera, lively kid-centric concerts, literary festival, outdoor explorations and celebrations, and the Butler Family Foundation, this excellent series of free kid-friendly concerts is held on Wednesday mornings from 10am-11am. Opening this week with Mil’s Trils, the series also includes performances by AudraRox, Rolie Polie Guacamole, the Deedle Deedle Dees and much more!

Big trees in Fort Greene Park mean lots of shade during the concert series.

The concert is located in the Grove, (enter at DeKalb Ave at Washington Park, Fort Greene). Parents will find ample stroller parking, but you’ll want to bring a blanket to sit on and some snacks.

The music of ukulele phenomenon Amelia Robinson, in her Mil’s Trills interactive kids’ concert, is sure to excite and please kids and parents. This awesome concert promises to be a fun way to share music with your kid while enjoying the beauty of the Park. Fun for kids and grownups alike, Mil’s Trills is going to be a great kick-off to our Music in the Grove: Kids series this summer!

Jeremy Plays Guitar plays all types of music for kids. Jazz, pop, rock, country, you name it! His music teaches children between the ages of 2-6 how to express themselves in situations that range from sharing to food allergies. Jeremy Plays Guitar’s award- winning album, “Use Your Words” has been featured in People Magazine, Daily Candy, and CNN, to name a few. “After the first note, tons of kids [are] dancing, jumping, singing along to the words.” If learning to a tune gets you pumped, do not hesitate to join us on Wednesday!

Astrograss at Music in the Grove 2011

This Wednesday, relax in the park with fantastic entertainment by Astrograss. Parents and children can sing and dance together to aunique blend of bluegrass music and down-home humor. Astrograss concerts feature sing-a-longs, dance contests, and high-energy fiddle hoedowns. Astrograss has received tremendous praise for their “unique blend of bluegrass music and down-home humor.” In 2006 they won the TimeOutNY Kids’ Battle of the Bands contest at the Knitting Factory. Join us at this incomparable concert!

Robbi K and Friends is a children’s group filled with highly experienced musicians. Robbi K’s beautiful voice has graced TV, radio, and live venues and she was a back-up singer for such superstars as Diana Ross, Jewel, and Aretha Franklin. Multiple Parents’ Choice Award winner, Robbi K, sings in many languages and presents interactive, danceable concerts suited for people of all ages. Her shows combine worldly music, theater, and culture to show family audiences the connections within the world community. The highly successful “Pied Piper in Pink” is known throughout New York’s mommy-rock scene for her upbeat, catchy, glittery, girl-power tunes and for the excitement she evokes in her audience, who love to sing and dance along.

Rolie Polie Guacamole

Wednesday, August 15, 2012, 10 am-11am- Rolie Polie Guacamole .
Rolie Polie Guacamole is back for our last kids concert this season!  Rolie Polie Guacamole takes everyday activities and adds an air of excitement to them with songs such as, “Wake Up”, “Swim Like A Dolphin” and “Red Light Green Light”.  Able to bring joy and laughter to the kids they play for, Rolie Polie Guacamole is always well-loved by their audiences and greeted by happy, excited children.  Rolie Polie Guacamole’s music makes all the kids to get up and dance and sing along.  You won’t want to miss it!
