It would be hard to miss Halloween in Brooklyn with all the amazing events going on locally, but to get in the spooky spirit you should head out to Sesame Place for their pre-Halloween celebrations.  The fall is the perfect time to go to Sesame Place: it is less crowded and has been transformed into a not-too-spooky Halloween haven. They have gone Halloween-crazy with two themed mazes, a character hayride, three Halloween shows and Sesame Street friends dressed in their Halloween attire. New this year, Sesame Place’s Neighborhood Street Party will rock out with Spooktacular music and other parade Halloween elements. The park will also feature a trick-or-treat photo hunt using the new mobile application, Lavahound.

As you would imagine for this time of year, the wet rides are closed, but the 12 dry rides will be open along with the new Spooktacular-themed attractions. Leave your swimsuit at home but bring your costumes (and that means you too!) Sesame Place will also host special events like The Count’s Halloween Party (October 29-30), Abby Cadabby’s Fairy Pumpkin Party (October 22-23) and an annual Halloween Costume Contest (October 30).

What you will win:
We are giving away a family four-pack to Sesame Street to use through October. And, if you don’t win, the park is offering a $20-off ticket from September 10-October 30, specifically for Spooktacular.

How long does it take to get there?
Sesame Place is in Langhorne, Pennsylvania.  It is accessible via car and both NJ Transit. (We have hints about using public transport below).  Via car it is 90 minutes south of New York City.  It took us 1 hour and 45 minutes from Brooklyn with no pit stops.  You can take New Jersey Transit to the Trenton train station and catch a SEPTA bus or a cab to Sesame Place. Sesame Place is located 10 minutes West of Trenton. Please call SEPTA at 215-580-7800 for bus schedule information, and please call New Jersey Transit 1-800-626-RIDE for train schedules.

A day trip or a weekend trip?
Langhorne, PA is located in Bucks County- a great place to do other things (Quakertown, wineries, art galleries, riversports, etc) if you want to make a weekend of it. I adore Bucks County, more for adult activities than anything else.

Ticket Fees:
The daily entrance fee is $53 plus tax for all entrants- though children 23 months and younger are free. You can purchase the Elmo’s ANY Two-Day Ticket that is 2 days for the price of one. These two days do not have to be consecutive and may be used on any regular scheduled operating day during the current season. This is definitely worth it. All tickets can be bought at the front gate, through the kiosks and online. Current ticket deals are listed below.

  2. On Saturday Oct 29 Sesame Place closed at 1230pm because of the snowstorm. It was open on Sunday Oct 30 but many “dry” rides were closed and those that were open, some of them were wet and subject to snow melt and cold drips.
