Claire wrote: “I wanted to create a class for young children where their desire to “be” a princess or a pirate or a dolphin would be as fully realized as possible complete with costumes, music and lighting. I wanted to give the children a few tools for story telling, like understanding what a character is and being able to name and express their feelings. Most importantly I wanted to take them on journeys of the imagination.” Claire is an actress and the producing artistic director of Brookyn’s Brave New World Theater Company – they just performed “Crossing Brooklyn Ferry” at Celebrate Brooklyn in the summer of 2007.

The Young Filmmakers Niche is a mentoring and training filmmaking program for children ages 9 to 12 and young adults ages 13 & up who are interested in expressing themselves through the art of film. Our mission is to provide a secure atmosphere where students can share their ideas and feelings for a fruitful collaborative process, inspire them to discover what is meaningful and interesting to them, and train and mentor them to become the next generation of filmmakers. Students will learn and experience all aspects of production from the development phase, through pre-production, production and finally post-production. Each student will have the opportunity to shoot their own project and participate in other productions. By the end of the program, students will present their projects to a public audience. The program is taught by a New York University Tisch School of Arts graduate..
