Who hasn’t been to the opera and wondered if the plot line seemed a bit far fetched? Children will totally “get” this weekend’s child-friendly opera about a mouse that doesn’t want to go to sleep. This 15 minute opera at the Bronx Zoo makes opera accessible to kids with puppets, a live chamber orchestra and young singers. If you yearn to have your child appreciate classical music, then the afternoon performance by Bargemusic may be just the perfect event. Musicians perform a short one hour concert live on a floating barge at the base of the Brooklyn Bridge- what could be more beautiful? Carroll Park Kids Concerts debuts this weekend with Karen K and the Jitterbugs: it’s always a busy concert series that is quintessential Brooklyn. If you have a child that loves to dress up as a princess, then head to either of Moey’s Music Party events this weekend: the Princess Ball or Bryant Park Reading Room. Get those tiaras out!
