Charlotte Blake is a pre/post natal certified personal trainer, dancer, and cardio sculpt, cycling, and pilates instructor with her pilates certification from the Kane School of Core Integration. Charlotte works with people of all ages to better their strength, confidence, well being, and body awareness. Her classes and sessions are holistically based focusing on working correctly and efficiently. Check her website for class listings in Williamsburg and in the city.

I took Charlotte’s class called “Workout With Baby”. She incorporated high-energy moves with Pilates. She gave nice visual goals and was very encouraging. I loved that she would show us moves with alternates for those with different strengths or abilities. My baby never got bored either as there was always something interesting going on: jumping bodies, flapping arms, etc. I loved the class- I felt like a got a real cardio workout with strengthening too. Oh, I was sore that night- but a good sore!

Essential Yoga offers students a place to gather for practice, support, information and community. We specialize in Women’s health and well being around the childbearing years. Lara offers Physical care for women in postpartum (and beyond… ) It is an individualized practice, catered to each woman’s specific needs. It includes specific exercises to strengthen and tone areas most affected by pregnancy and childbirth, practices to regain general strength and well being, and ways to incorporate these practices into one’s daily life.

Lara is a very warm and knowledgeable teacher.  Her classes were always gentle but still challenging.  Her vast knowledge of the pelvic floor and experience as a mom added to the yoga practice.  She also helped to cultivate a sense of community amongst the other women who now keep in touch.  I highly recommend her classes which are some of the best in the city.

Personal Training. Nutrition. Group Classes. We offer 6-8 week programs for moms and their babies. Programs are offered twice a week, but some moms just opt for one day. The great thing is that we have the flexibility here, if a group of moms approaches me with a request for a new time, or day, I can help them put a class together that suits their needs better.Although we do have great classes, our main focus here at the Fitness Collective is personal training. To support parents we have started a childcare program. Mondays and Wednesdays 11-2 parents can workout with one of our great trainers, while their kids play supervised in our studio.

My favorite class I’ve been to recently is at the Fitness Collective, taught by Zoe Levine. it’s a class for mom’s with new babies. it is TOUGH, and fun and it really gets you back into shape quick.

Beth and Lara specialize in Yoga for the childbearing years and offer group and private prenatal / postpartum yoga classes and workshops at various studios around the city, primarily in Brooklyn. They co-teach a Yoga for Labor, Delivery and Early Postpartum workshop for couples.

I took a Mommy and Baby Yoga Class with Lara which was lovely. She concentrated on visual metaphors and goals, ways to work the poses with our babies and educated us about yoga and post-partum yoga all while helping us do correct poses with a simple rythym to follow. I liked her calming style.
