Now that school has been cancelled for the rest of the week and your kids are probably jacked up on sugar- what do do with their energy all week?! We have some suggestions:

Most Brooklyn Public Library (BPL) locations, including Central Library at Grand Army Plaza, will be open from 10 PM – 5 PM tomorrow, Thursday, November 1.  The following branches will NOT be open this week: Brighton Beach, Coney Island, Flatlands, Gerritsen Beach, Gravesend, Jamaica Bay, Kensington, McKinley Park, Red Hook and Sheepshead Bay.

The Prospect Park Zoo is reopening on Thursday and the Bronx Zoo is reopening on Saturday.

The Brooklyn Botanic Garden will reopen to the public on Friday, November 2. Certain areas will be cordoned off to permit ongoing work, but the Cherry Esplanade, Steinhardt Conservatory, the Herb Garden, Lily Pool Terrace, and several other iconic gardens—in addition to the Terrace Café and new Visitor Center—will be open and accessible to all. Friday also marks the beginning of BBG’s Free Winter Weekdays, and special tours and programs have been planned to accommodate families while public schools remain closed. And coming up this Sunday, November 4, visitors can enjoy the start of a new series of Light in Winter programs, which kicks off with a bird walk, yoga class, Garden Shop tasting, and other all-ages activities designed to highlight the beauty of the Garden during the colder months of the year.

The Brooklyn Art Museum will be open tomorrow, Thursday, November 1st from 11am-9pm.  Check out the gorgeous survey of Jean-Michel Othoniel‘s 25 year career there. The colorful glass sculptures are mesmerizing and imaginative. All ages will enjoy the large scale glass sculptures like the conastaga wagon and bed frame and the smaller works of suspended beads.

The Brooklyn Children’s Museum has reopened and you can visit it from 10 am- 5 pm. Tomorrow they have programming starting at 11:30 am. Check their calendar for events throughout the week.
