Executive Producer Ricki Lake and Filmmaker Abby Epstein examined “the business” of having a baby with their insightful documentary, The Business of Being Born and their new, 4 part DVD series continues their investigation into maternity care with the series, More Business of Being Born. The series looks at birthing options, visits with famous midwife Ina May Gaskill and records the birth stories of celebrities Alanis Morissette, Gisele Bundchen, Christy Turlington-Burns, Cindy Crawford, Molly Ringwald, Kimberly Williams-Paisley and Melissa Joan Hart.

There is nothing more wonderful than seeing an empowering movie like this with other like-minded people. Though I am personally least interested in the celebrity interviews, that is the DVD that they will be screening. However, the site says the celebrity-studded “Special Deliveries” DVD is ” true inspiration for any mother-to-be, this group of women trusted their bodies and intuitions, taking responsibility for their birth decisions even when things didn’t go according to plan.”  The NYC Premier Screening of More Business of Being Born: Special Deliveries will include a panel of experts as well.

  1. Happy to share- I really liked it too. Interesting that on FB, a reader thought the film was too judgmental. I didn’t feel that way- I was just so happy that someone had decided to take on how the majority of women don’t get to choose the way they give birth.

  2. So exciting!! The first movie was so inspiring, and I can’t wait to see more… Thanks for sharing!!
